Alec Pronovost is a filmmaker and writer from Montreal whose short film Pro Pool, based on his illustrious two-week career as a pool shop clerk, played at Sundance and 80-something other festivals. Known in Quebec for his unique and fresh comedy voice, Alec is the creator behind four award-winning french-speaking TV shows (Complètement Lycée, Le Killing, Club Soly and J’adore le jus). Right now, he’s developing two new TV shows as well as two feature films, all driven by the fear of having to go back to his old pool shop job.

Alec Pronovost est un auteur et réalisateur montréalais dont le plus récent court-métrage Piscine Pro a été présenté au prestigieux festival de Sundance sous un tonnerre d’applaudissements. Inspiré de sa brillante carrière de deux semaines au Club Piscine, le film a été projeté à travers quelque 80 festivals partout autour du monde tout en récoltant quelques prix au passage.

Filmmaker turned audience development specialist and digital strategist, Annelise Larson is a passionate advocate for media storytellers, especially those with traditionally underrepresented voices. She was one of the first to recognize the power of audience in the digital context and what this could mean for creatives. She continues to champion and work with storytellers to develop a strategic audience-led approach to their work. She has worked with hundreds of creatives to get financing, generate revenue and impact, and build sustainable businesses. Her podcast STORY+AUDIENCE with screenwriter Jill Golick can be found on all major podcasting platforms. During the pandemic she launched an online digital marketing course for media in conjunction with the National Screen Institute – Canada and released two studies with Telefilm Canada entitled “Thanks COVID! 15 Lessons for Film Distribution from the First Wave” and “Futureproofing Canadian Film: Working Towards a Sustainable Film Ecosystem.”
She is currently working on a major research project for Heritage Canada.

Elle a occupé le poste de directrice générale adjointe du Fonds indépendant de production, premier fonds dédié à la websérie dès 2010 .Elle a eu la chance d’être au cœur de la création de projets innovants au Fonds Bell. À titre de gestionnaire de fonds, elle a soutenu et encouragé le développement de nouveaux talents tout au long de sa carrière. Elle est détentrice d’une maîtrise en cinéma de USC (University of Southern California).

Claire Dion held strategic positions in the development of the film/tv and digital industries in Quebec for 30 years. She was the associate director of the Independent Production Fund (IPF) in Quebec, dedicated to the development and funding of webseries, for 15 years. She was also central to the interactive innovation and creative processes at Bell Fund as its Quebec Director. As a manager of these Funds, she fostered the emergence of new talents throughout her career. She holds a Master’s degree in film studies from USC (university of Southern California).
She is retired from the Funds and now acts as a consultant and mentor for emerging talents.

Daniel AM Rosenberg

Daniel is an award-winning writer and director from Toronto, Canada, creating engaging, humorous, and touching works. He co-created and directed the CBC Gem comedy series The Ninth as well as developed & directed the comedy series Cam_Girlfriend.
Daniel has directed scripted and unscripted programming airing on CBC, A+E Networks, FYI, HGTV, MTV, Much Music, and AMI. He recently directed season 2 of Cam_Girlfriend and the hit musical comedy Less Than Kosher.
Daniel was also a finalist in the 2023 Just For Laughs CBC Comedy Pitch program. He got his start directing music videos, where he won an iHeartRadio MMVA for Rock Video of The Year, as well as a JUNO nomination for Video of The Year.

James Genn is a film and TV director and producer from Vancouver, Canada. He grew up in a family of painters, writers and musicians, making Bolex and Betamax movies as a teenager in his parent’s basement. By his twenties he was subsidizing an expensive film making habit by working in post production, mainly sound design, until his films began to take him to festivals around the world.

Jeremy is a writer/director/producer born and raised in rural Prince Edward Island. A graduate of Sheridan’s post graduate Advanced Television and Film program, he has created award winning shorts, web series, documentaries and feature films. He has over 10 years of experience creating content specifically for the web. His web series credits include the trail blazing Profile PEI, the Vimeo Awards shortlisted Ponderings, the foul-mouthed and popular sport series Leafs Beefs, and two seasons of the IPF funded, Canadian Comedy award winning series Just Passing Through. He made his feature film debut with the 2019 Canadian Comedy Award winner for Best Feature film Pogey Beach. His sophomore feature was the theatrical hit Who’s Yer Father?, which was nominated for three Canadian Screen Awards and has worldwide distribution. His projects have received funding from Telefilm Canada, The Harold Greenberg Fund, The Bell Slate Fund & The Independent Production Fund. He currently has a number of projects in development. Jill Golick is an award-winning writer-showrunner-producer with substantial experience in children’s, drama, soap, and interactive. Leah Rifkin is the Founder and CEO of Scarlet Lens Productions. She uses her mastery of Sight, Sequencing and Articulation to Visionscape Realities through Art. She is the award-winning author of the book, Beyond The Director’s Chair. She began her career as the director and executive producer of Out Of Frame, an award-winning edutainment web series. Leah then went on to direct the short film, Dinner With Bernice, which was an Official Selection in the 2018 Toronto Shorts International Film Festival.
She produced the award-winning feature film, Wallflower, which is now streaming on Tubi, Fuse and Amazon Prime Video.
Leah is the producer of RiVERSE Reacts, an unscripted YouTube series that has earned over 250 millions views. Robert Watson is an award-winning playwright & performer, and an “LGBTQ+ voice in comedy you should know” as proclaimed by CBC Arts. Born in St John’s NL and raised in Victoria BC, he has called Toronto home for over a decade.
Robert’s stand-up comedy brand Gay AF Comedy is Toronto’s premier place to find top notch Queer comedians who represent the many intersections of the LGBTQ2S+ community. Established in 2019, Gay AF has been showcased as the flagship show at Buddies In Bad Times Queer Pride Festival, and featured as part of Just For Laughs Toronto in 2022 and OffJFL/Zoofest in Montreal in 2023.
Robert is also the creator of the super gay web series A Gay Victorian Affair, winner of 4 Canadian Comedy Awards in 2019 and Best LGBTQ Web Series at both Rio de Janeiro and Baltimore web festivals. Wendy is a lawyer-turned-award-winning writer and producer.
She’s the creator of the Crave original series My Dead Mom, inspired by her mother’s persistent commentary from beyond the grave, and the CBC original series How to Buy a Baby, a comedy rooted in her own struggle with infertility. How to Buy a Baby was nominated for an International Emmy Award and drew festival acclaim worldwide, including HollyWeb, U.K. WebFest, Seoul WebFest, Copenhagen WebFest. At home it won two Canadian Screen Awards for Best Writing and Best Series. Wendy was also excited to direct for the first time on My Dead Mom. Wendy has further worked on a number of shows including: The Beaverton, Children Ruin Everything, Pretty Hard Cases, Run the Burbs, and the Popularity Papers. Amanda is a former children’s Production Executive, where she used her passion for children’s programming to assist in the production and development of live action and animated series for Corus Entertainment’s YTV, Cartoon Network Canada, and Treehouse networks. Previously, she has held other roles at Corus Entertainment on the Kids Original Content team as well as the Kids Programming team. In her Programming role, she assisted in content curation for YTV, Teletoon, Treehouse, and Disney Channel Canada among others. In addition to her children’s content expertise, Amanda was also actively involved with the launch of the first ever 24-hour Adult Swim network. A few years ago, Cathryn Naiker decided to leave her career in communications to follow her dreams of becoming a stand-up comedian. According to the British Journal of Psychiatry, that’s a terrible idea. But fortunately, the risk has paid off!
Currently, she’s a writer for the new hit show Late Bloomer, as well she’s also written on CBC hit comedy shows Son of a Critch and Run The Burbs. Previously she was a writer on This Hour Has 22 Minutes, The Beaverton, The Parker Andersons/Amelia Parker, and the Mr. D show.
Cathryn is also a proud alumnus of The Writers Guild of Canada & Bell
Media Diverse Screenwriters program. She also wrote and co-starred in
the IPF-funded web series Dhaliwal ‘15 with YouTube star Jus Reign.

She then joined AIC Studios as a Production Manager and managed VFX and animation pipelines of several feature films including “Arctic Dogs” (2019), and later ‘’Ollie’s Pack” (Nickelodeon, 2020) and other series for Nelvana. Leading a double life, in 2009, she began producing live action web series of and obtained funding in the first round of the Independent Production Fund.
In 2014 she joined the board of directors of an arts organization Webseries Canada, and began co-producing the annual multi-day event T.O. Webfest, Toronto’s premiere web content festival, where she consistently implemented efficient budgeting and scheduling to maximize results for 4 consecutive years. Now focused on producing in the animation industry, she uses her business-savvy experience to foster partnerships and create meaningful content for all audiences as the Head of Production at Lakeside Animation, on international and domestic co-productions of features, short films and series.

Daniel Hogg

A storyteller at heart, Daniel Hogg’s award-winning projects have been screened around the globe. A finalist in the Praxis Screenplay Competition, and a semi-finalist in Francis Ford Coppola’s American Zoetrope Screenplay Competition, Daniel’s stories have screened around the world and on Amazon Prime Video, The Movie Network, Superchannel, MuchMusic, Bravo, PBS, and more. In addition to his freelance story editing, Daniel is associate faculty for the National Screen Institute, and teaches screenplay and film production workshops at the post-secondary level.
As a producer, his first web series, Freshman’s Wharf, won the inaugural Best Web Series award at BC’s Leo Awards. The first feature he produced, Two 4 One, was also the first transgender romantic comedy ever produced, and played over fifty festivals on five continents, picking numerous awards on the festival circuit. His second feature, The Devout, earned a nomination for the John Dunning Discovery Award from the Canadian Screen Awards and won seven Leo Awards, including Best Picture. His second webseries, Esluna: The First Monolith, was supported by the Telus Storyhive $100k edition, which spawned his third feature, Esluna: The Crown of Babylon, for he was named to Telefilm Canada’s inaugural Talent to Watch program.

Jacques Mathieu began his career as a journalist, then moved on to broadcasting accumulating more than twenty years of experience, creating a broad range of content. Editor-in-chief of the landmark series La fin du monde est à 7 heures, he acted as producer (Zone3), then as a broadcaster. As brand manager, he led programming development for Historia, Séries +, Z, V (Noovo), Max, MusiquePlus (Elle Fiction).
He successfully carried out several strategic reorientations of these channels and oversaw the development of their various digital platforms. He now devotes his time to the ideation and development of television and digital content for both established and emerging production houses. He also serves as content analyst for the Independent Production Fund and the Bell Fund.

Julian Stamboulieh

Julian Stamboulieh, born and raised in Montreal, began his media career as an actor and a freelance video editor in 2004. After receiving his BFA in Photography from Concordia University, and starting his company Beanduck Productions, he soon found himself in his directorial debut.
In 2013, Julian created and directed the digital series LARPs, with both seasons acquiring 10+ international awards and 4+ million views. He has gone on to direct several short films, including Dystonia (written and starring Transplant’s Kenny Wong), The Forest (co-written alongside Frank Marrs) and Okay Boomer (in collaboration with Theatre Ouest End).
Through Beanduck Productions, Julian prioritises fan integration and engagement; the success of LARPs demonstrated the importance of not simply telling a story to a community, but with a community. With social awareness central to its beliefs, all Beanduck productions aim to have gender parity and diversity on its productions, and high environmental standards on its sets.
Over the past several years, Julian has developed and taught several courses on filmmaking and photography and is currently sitting his fourth term on ACTRA Montreal Branch Council.

Part of Toronto’s newest cohort of entertainment lawyers, Mitchel Fleming brings to his practice a wealth of entertainment experience.
Fleming has extensive experience acting as production legal counsel, including handling rights acquisitions, international co-pro agreements, broadcast and distribution deals, performer agreements, production financing, tax credit optimization and E&O insurance reviews for a growing list of feature films and TV series.
Fleming not only works on behalf of legacy film and television organizations, but maintains a diverse roster of clients, including social media sensations, comedians, and live sport entertainment companies.
Fleming currently serves as COO of The Rights Clearance Company, the next generation of rights clearance services in the film and television industry. In his role, he oversaw the adoption of revolutionary in-house software models which increased the firm’s profitability and efficiency.
Beyond entertainment, Fleming has also dabbled in the entrepreneurial arts, having co-founded a psychedelics research company in 2017. Halucenex Life Sciences was the first company to investigate the therapeutic effects of psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy on individuals suffering from acute Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Fleming left the company in 2020 to focus his efforts on his burgeoning entertainment career after the company was bought by Australian pharmaceuticals company Creso Pharma.
In addition to growing his legal practice, Fleming prioritizes teaching and publishing in the areas of law, technology and the arts. Fleming has been a guest lecturer at the McGill Faculty of Music and Memorial University of Newfoundland’s Faculty of Music. Sam is best known for directing two seasons of the award winning digital series ‘Avocado Toast’, nominated for a Canadian Screen Award (Best Director & Best Digital Series). Along with directing the anticipated digital series ‘Settle Down’ by creator and star Alex Nunez. Sam also directed two seasons of the evocative queer reality dating show ‘Dating Unlocked’ which won the Silver Telly Award for Best Web Series. All three series are now streaming on OUTtv and Amazon Prime. Sam’s directorial debut feature, ‘Hazy Little Thing’ premiered at Canadian Film Fest and was sold to Super Channel. Sam has just wrapped production on an erotic thriller, ‘Fatal Exposure’ her fourth feature with MarVista Entertainment for streamer Tubi. Sam is currently in development on her next feature ‘On Your Knees’ with co-writer Erin Carter.

Tanya Hoshi

Tanya Hoshi is a Canadian filmmaker based in Toronto, who has built a portfolio of award-winning films, webseries, advertisements, and digital content. For the past decade, Tanya has focused her career path towards strategic storytelling, landing her coveted roles including the first Head of Brand Marketing at Owner – an RBCx Venture, Lead Producer at Shopify, and Chair of Communications at FEZANA. Tanya’s commercial productions have been viewed globally by millions of aspiring entrepreneurs, broadcast on NBC, and won a Telly Award.
Determined to pursue creativity outside of the corporate world, Tanya has additionally produced her own independent projects via her production company Hoshi Media Inc. In 2023, Tanya produced her first feature film We Will Be Brave via Telefilm Canada’s Talent to Watch Program, which won the Audience Choice Feature Film Award at Reel Asian International Film Festival and was acquired by CBC. In 2018, Tanya made her directorial debut with the web series Blackout which won Best Horror Series at WebFest Berlin and was acquired by Tubi. Tanya also produced the award-winning documentary Turning Tables (Hot Docs 2018), which was acquired by CNN’s Great Big Story. Tanya is currently developing her second feature documentary, which is generously financed by CBC for development.
In her spare time, Tanya is an active mentor for aspiring filmmakers and participates as a jury member and workshop host for film festivals. She also volunteers as the Chair of Communications for the not-for-profit FEZANA, which represents 27,000 Zoroastrians in North America. After decades as a top commissioner of scripted content at Canadian broadcasters, Tara transitioned into independent producing with her first show, Hey Lady! – a short-form comedy series directed by Adriana Maggs and Sarah Polley which premiered at the 2020 Sundance Festival, and on CBC Gem. Her recent comedy series Nesting, premiered on Crave in December of 2023. Select shows Tara backed as a programmer and commissioner of content include the series Slings & Arrows (for Showcase) New Yorker TV critic Emily Nussbaum’s “favorite show of all time”, audience faves Lost Girl, Continuum and Vikings, History Channel’s top-rated series The Kennedys (for which Tara received an Emmy nom) and the Global series Rookie Blue. At CBC, Tara oversaw all comedy, drama, kids and digital series scripted content including Anne with an E, Kim’s Convenience and Alias Grace.
The Toronto Globe & Mail named Tara as one of the 40 Most Influential People in Canadian television for her efforts in bringing new talent to Canadian airwaves. Tara has been honoured with the Women In Film & Television Crystal Award for Creative Excellence. Sara Mauleón is a Spanish audiovisual producer, musician, and expert in cultural communication with over a decade of experience in the creative industries. She has built her career at the intersection of strategy and creativity, guiding artists and cultural projects in crafting authentic and impactful narratives that resonate across platforms and audiences.
As founder and CEO of MAULEÓN, an agency dedicated to cultural communication, personal branding, and content creation, she has collaborated with a wide range of cultural organizations, including the Victoria Eugenia Theater in Donostia–San Sebastián and Spanish Public Radio and Television (RTVE), where she contributes as a trainer on the RTVE-HAZ platform.
Her work as an audiovisual producer includes the internationally nominated digital series About:/thenew, the documentary Entre Dos Mundos – nominated for Best Intercultural Work at the Cine Invisible Film Festival- and the collective feature film Begirada, in which she served as writer, director, and producer with her piece Muga. She is also a guitarist for the alternative metal band Delenda Est, with whom she has toured extensively across Spain.
Sara has served as a jury member for the San Sebastián International Film Festival, Rio Web Fest, Bilbao Seriesland, and other industry events. As a speaker and mentor, she has spoken and presented at festivals such as Die Seriale in Germany, as well as other professional programs and panels, sharing her expertise on cultural communication, personal branding, and producing for the digital space internationally.
Driven by a deep commitment to equality and representation, she currently serves as President of Hemen, the Basque Association of Women Professionals in the Audiovisual Industry, where she works to promote gender equality and visibility in the sector.
